Blind Double Exposures | A Fun Analog Add-On for Family + Motherhood Sessions Alexandra Duprey of Moon Bloom Photo, a Delaware Film Photographer
If you're looking for something playful, dreamy, artistic, and totally one-of-a-kind to add to your family or motherhood session—let me introduce you to my Blind Double Exposure add-on.
This film-based option is a creative experiment built right into your session: unexpected, imperfect, and beautifully human. It’s a way to lean into the quirks of analog photography and celebrate your story in a new way.

What Is a Blind Double Exposure?
A double exposure happens when two images are captured on the same frame of film. The results are unpredictable and totally unique. Faces blend with flowers and silhouettes fill with texture and colour.
.
The "blind" part means that there is no digital preview-- I don't plan or preview any pairing. The way the images layer is completely random.
I create these exposures by first shooting a roll of your choice of florals, foliage, landscapes, or a combination. Then, relaod this roll of film into my camera and shoot over the first images with portraits of your family. This allows for moments to overlap: your family’s laughter, a flower in bloom, sunlight on your skin, the texture of ferns. It’s a little bit magic. A little bit mystery. And very analog.
Why Choose This Add-On?
No two images are ever the same. Your set of double exposures will be entirely original—artwork made by light, timing, trust and a little be of luck!
It adds an experimental edge. If you love the look of film and the feeling of creative freedom, this add-on brings that energy front and center.
It's about emotion over perfection. These images won’t be posed or polished. They’ll be layered, poetic, and raw—in the best way.

What You’ll Receive
If you choose to add Blind Double Exposures to your family of motherhood session, I will be bringing along a black backdrop, setting up in open shade in your backyard or a well lit room in your home (a private corner of a park if your session is nature focused) and shooting through a roll of 35mm colour film with 36 exposures. From this roll, you’ll recieve all the keepers, in the form of negative film scans, delivered alongside your full digital gallery. As this process is unpredictable, some may be soft, abstract, or even ghostly. Others might surprise you with their clarity. All will be truly unique and made with intention and heart.
A Note on Letting Go
This part of my work asks for trust and openness—from me, and from you. There’s no guarantee on how each frame will turn out. And that’s the point. It’s about letting go of control and embracing the beauty of imperfection (something I have always loved about working with film!)
If that resonates with you, you’ll love what this add-on brings to your session!
